    1. Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Materials* — Applied by spraying with water, in one untamped coat at the thickness shown in the table below, to steel surfaces which are free of dirt, oil or scale. Use of adhesive is optional. Min avg untamped density is 13 pcf with min ind untamped density of 11 pcf for Types II, II HS, or DC/F. Min avg and min ind densities of 22 and 19 pcf, respectively, for Type HP. Tamping is optional. For method of density determination, refer to Design Information Section.

    2. Floor and Ceiling Channels — 1-5/8 in. wide with two 1-1/8 in. legs, 26 MSG steel, attached to floor and ceiling with fasteners spaced not to exceed 12 in. O.C. Inner leg of channels to be min. of 1 in. from outer edge of Spray Applied Fire Resistive Materials.
    3. Corner Channels — 1-5/8 in. wide with leg dimensions of 1-5/8 in. with a 1/4 in. folded flange in legs, fabricated from 24 MSG galvanized or painted steel, 15/16 by 1-1/2 in. rectangular cutouts punched at various locations but not closer than 16 in. O.C. Channels cut 1/2 to 1 in. less in length than assembly height. Channels inserted into floor and ceiling channel openings with open side facing column.
    4. Gypsum Board* — Any 5/8 in. thick UL Classified Gypsum Board that is eligible for use in Design Nos. L501, G512 or U305. Nom 5/8 in. thick gypsum board, attached to corner channels with 1 in. long, Type S bugle head, self-drilling, self-tapping steel screws spaced vertically 12 in. O.C. and 1/2 in. from the floor and ceiling channels. One fastener to be used at the top center of each face of the column to attach the wallboard to the ceiling channel.

    5. Corner Beads — No. 28 MSG perforated galvanized steel, 1-1/4 in. legs attached to wallboard by crimping spaced 6 in. O.C. Corner beads covered with joint compound.
    6. Steel Column — Minimum size of column, a W8X28 with outside dimensions of 8 by 6-1/2 in. with a flange thickness of 7/16 in., a web thickness of 5/16 in. and a cross-sectional area of 8.23 sq in.
