Alternate Construction
    1. Supporting Angles — 3 by 3 by 1/4 in. steel, attached to masonry with steel expansion shields and 3/8 in. diam by 2 in. long steel bolts spaced 24 in. O.C.
    2. Flashing Angles — 2 by 3 in., 18 MSG metal coated steel, 2-in. leg attached to masonry or wall with 1-1/2 in.-14 hex head steel sheet metal screws and inserts spaced 18 in. OC.
    3. Wall and Partition Facings and Accessories*— Steel Liners — 12 or 24 in. wide channel shaped min 18 MSG steel units attached to supporting and flashing angles with 3/4 in.-12 hex head self-tapping steel screws with combination steel and neoprene washers, spaced 12 in. OC at supporting angles (three screws at each end for 24 in. wide liners and two screws at each end for 12 in. wide liners) and 18 in. OC along flashing angles.

    4. Sub-girts — Hat shaped sub-girts, 3/8 in. deep by 2-5/8 in. wide with 11/16 in legs, 16 MSG metal coated steel attached to lip of liners along both legs with 1-1/8 in.-12 hex washer head self-tapping, self-drilling steel screws. Sub-girts spaced vertically not more than 48 in. OC with top and bottom sub-girts located not more than 3 in. from supporting angles.
    5. Batts and Blankets* — 1-1/2 in. thick wool or glass fiber batts. Installed in liner cavities with horizontal joints in adjacent cavities staggered.

    6. Gypsum Board* — 5/8 in. thick by 48 in. wide sheets, three layers applied vertically, vertical and horizontal joints between adjacent layers staggered. First and second layers attached to sub-girts with 0.115 in. diam by 1-5/8 in. long self-drilling, self-tapping bugle head steel screws located alternately 12 in. from the edges of each board. Third layer attached to first and second layers with 1-1/2 in.-10 double lead bugle head steel screws spaced vertically 24 in. OC and alternately 12 in. from the edges of each board.

    7. Sub-girts — Channel or hat shaped, 14 or 16 MSG metal coated steel. Channel sub-girts, 14 MSG, 7/16 in. deep by 1-5/16 in. wide with 5/16 in. flanges; 1/8 by 3/16 in. rectangular tabs spaced 12 in. OC punched in face of channel. Hat shaped sub-girts, 16 MSG, 3/8 in. deep by 2-5/8 in. wide with 11/16 in. legs. Sub-girts placed over wallboard and attached to sub-girts on opposite side (Item 4) with 2-1/2 in.-12 hex washer head self-drilling, self-tapping steel screws spaced horizontally 24 in. OC.
    8. Bottom Flashing Angle — 4 by 2-1/2 in. 18 MSG aluminum or 22 MSG metal coated steel, 4 in. leg attached in position with bottom sub-girt. For protected metal facing units, bottom flashing 2 by 4 in. angle, 18 MSG protected steel.
    9. Connecting Angle — 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 in., 18 MSG aluminum or 22 MSG metal coated steel, used to connect zee-shaped flashing to facing units, attached to masonry or wall with 1-1/2 in.-14 hex head steel sheet metal screws and inserts spaced 18 in. OC.
    10. Flashing Angles — 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 in. angle and 2 by 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 in. zee-shaped angle, 18 MSG aluminum or 22 MSG metal coated steel, attached to facing units and connecting angle with 3/4 in.-12 hex head steel sheet metal screws spaced vertically 18 in. OC, 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 in. angle attached to masonry or wall with 1-1/2 in.-14 hex head steel sheet metal screws and inserts spaced 18 in. OC or 2 by 6 in. protected metal flashing angles attached to protected metal facing units with 3/4 in.-12 hex head sheet metal screws spaced 12 in. OC.
    11. Closure Angles — 1-1/2 by 1-5/8 in., 18 MSG aluminum or 22 MSG metal coated steel, supplied in 5-7/8 in. lengths or 1-5/8 by 1-5/8 in. protected metal angle, 18 MSG steel. One leg of angle notched to fit contour of facing units, attached to facing units with 3/4 in.-12 hex head steel sheet metal screws spaced 12 in. OC.
    12. Top Flashing Angle — 2 by 2 in., 18 MSG aluminum or 22 MSG metal coated steel or 2 by 4 in. protected metal, 18 MSG steel, attached to facing units with 3/4 in.-12 hex head self-tapping steel screws spaced 12 in. OC and to ceiling with 1-1/2 in.-14 hex head self-tapping steel screws and inserts spaced 18 in. OC.
    13. Mullion — Hat shaped, 2-1/2 in. wide with 11/16 in. legs, 2-1/8 or 3-7/8 in. deep for 18 or 24 in. wide facing units respectively, 18 MSG metal coated steel. Mullions spaced 18 or 24 in. OC, attached to sub-girts with 3/4 in.-12 hex steel screws at each leg.
    14. End Mullion Flashing — Zee-shaped, 22 MSG metal coated steel or protected metal, or 16 MSG aluminum or porcelain-coated aluminum, 1-5/8 by 7/8 by 2 in. or 1-9/16 by 2-5/16 by 2-1/8 in. for the 18 and 24 in. facing units respectively, attached to the end mullion with spring clips and to the side flashing angles with self-tapping steel screws.
    15. Trim Cap — 2 in. wide, 18 MSG aluminum snapped on over spring clips attached to mullions.
    16. Top Closure Angle — 1-3/8 in. in height, 18 or 24 in. in length, shaped to fit curvature of facing units, 18 MSG aluminum or porcelain-coated aluminum, or 20 MSG metal coated steel, or protected metal attached to mullions with 3/4 in.-12 hex self-tapping screws.
    17. Top Flashing Angle — 2 by 4 in. angle, 22 MSG metal coated steel or protected metal, or 16 MSG aluminum or porcelain-coated aluminum, 2 in. leg attached to masonry with 1-3/4 in.-12 hex screws spaced 12 in. OC and 4 in. leg to mullions with 5/8 in.-12 hex screws.
    18. Side Flashing Angle — One leg 2 in. with other leg of sufficient length to accommodate spacing of end mullion, 22 MSG metal coated steel or protected metal, or 16 MSG aluminum or porcelain-coated aluminum, 2 in. leg attached to masonry or wall with 1-1/2 in.-14 hex head steel sheet metal screws and inserts spaced 18 in. O.C. and other leg to end mullion flashing with 3/4 in.-12 hex head steel sheet metal screws spaced 18 in. O.C.
