BXUVC - Fire-resistance Ratings

See General Information for Fire-resistance Ratings

Design No. F902

March 27, 2015

Restrained Assembly Rating - 2 h

Unrestrained Assembly Rating - 1/2 h (See Steel Floor Units)

Unrestrained Beam Rating - 2 h

Load Restricted — Assembly evaluated in accordance with Working Stress Design methods,
for use under Limit States Design methods; refer to information under Guide BXUVC.

    Beam — W200x42, min size
    1. Low-Density Concrete — Expanded shale aggregate by rotary kiln method, 1700±50 kg/m3, 21 MPa nom compressive strength.
    2. Steel Floor Units — (CHWXC). Composite floor units welded to supports 300 mm OC and adjacent units button-punched 900 mm OC. Steel beam may employ welded steel studs to achieve composite action between the beam and concrete. Steel deck may be composite or noncomposite if composite floor units employed, then top 25 mm of concrete must be disregarded in calculating the effective composite structural properties of the deck. The full min thickness of 90 mm of concrete above the top surface of the steel deck must be calculated in the dead load of the assembly. Fluted sections 0.76 mm to 1.52 mm thick. When the steel floor units Type D-152 are used and the max clear span of the steel floor units is equal to, or less than, the tested span of 2970 mm, the unrestrained assembly rating may be increased to 2 h.

    3. Spray-Applied Fire-Resistive Material — (CHPXC). Applied to beam surfaces only and left untamped to the thickness shown. Blaze-Shield, Type DC/F or Blaze-Shield, Type II to have a min average dry density of 210 kg/m3 with no individual value less than 175 kg/m3. Blaze-Shield, Type HP to have a min average dry density of 352 kg/m3 with a min individual value of 304 kg/m3. The area between the steel deck and the beam top flange shall be filled. For method of density determination, refer to General Information Section under heading "Fire Resistance Ratings". Steel surfaces must be clean and free of dirt, loose scale and oily deposits.

    4. Outlet Boxes and Fittings for Service Penetrations — (not shown) — Where required, labelled outlet boxes and fittings may be installed as specified for the individual manufacturers listed under CEYYC.
